What to Know When Setting Up Your Catalog Feed for Deliveries

Learn about Audible Magic's delivery systems information and resource file requirements

Audible Magic takes pride in being an active DDEX member and helping the standardize the music data supply chain. As such, we ask most of our content partners to submit their catalogs in DDEX. This can be done in DDEX versions 3.7, 3.8.2, 3.8.3, and 4.1 for our Identification & Copyright Compliance services as well as UGC Licensing. Our Music Delivery systems currently support versions 3.8.2, 3.8.3, and 4.3.

If you are unable to deliver your catalog in DDEX, there are a number of distributor, delivery agent, and aggregator partners Audible Magic can share. To learn more, contact labeloperations@audiblemagic.com.

Resource File Requirements

Resource files are any additional content referenced in your catalog XML deliveries. A few notable examples include media files, fingerprint files, and artwork files. See below for which resource files are expected for both our content identification and music delivery services, as well as the specifications and naming conventions they should adhere to.

Identification & Copyright Compliance Systems

Media Files

Media files are supported and preferred for catalog submissions sent to our identification and copyright compliance systems. Mp3 files are preferred, but the following media file formats are also accepted:

  • .aif
  • .aiff
  • .avi
  • .flac
  • .flv
  • .m4a
  • .mkv
  • .mov
  • .mp4
  • .mpg

Please make sure that the file name of the media file itself is identical to the FileName called out in the XML metadata. If there is a discrepancy between the two, a fingerprint will not be registered and thus, Audible Magic will not be able to apply the appropriate business rule (Block or Allow) on your catalog.

Fingerprint Files

If you cannot deliver media files, our identification and copyright compliance systems also support fingerprint files. The two most common fingerprint file formats are:

  • .amrsp
    • These files are generated using Audible Magic's proprietary fingerprinting software (amSigGen), and bundle together the XML file and fingerprint file (.mfcc)
  • .mfcc

Like media files, make sure that the file name of the fingerprint file itself is identical to the FileName called out in the XML's metadata. If there is a discrepancy between the two, a fingerprint will not be registered and thus, Audible Magic will not be able to apply the appropriate business rule (Block or Allow) on your catalog.

Artwork Files

Artwork files are not required for our identification and copyright compliance services. They will be ignored upon ingest; thus, we recommend they not be included in your deliveries.

Music Delivery Systems

Media Files

Media files are required for catalog submissions sent to our content fulfillment/music delivery systems. The supported media file formats are:

  • .flac
  • .wav

Please make sure all media files follow the naming convention "UPC_DISCNUMBER_TRACKNUMBER_FORMAT.format” (e.g. 1234567891_01_01_FLAC.flac). Media files that do not follow this naming convention will not be processed.

Artwork Files

Unlike deliveries to Audible Magic's identification services, artwork files should be included in deliveries to our music delivery systems. See below for accepted file formats and specifications:

  • .jpeg
  • 24-bit depth
  • 72DPI
  • 1:1 aspect ratio – minimum 800x800

Artwork files included in submissions to our music delivery systems should follow the naming convention "UPC.format" (e.g. 1234567891.jpg).
