Content Registration Guidelines & Requirements

Learn more about the specific content types that are not supported for each of Audible Magic's services.

Before registering any content with Audible Magic, you should be aware of our content registration policies. These vary depending on which of our services you are registering your catalog for so please be sure to review each carefully. If Audible Magic observes any instances of unsupported content being submitted, we reserve the right to remove said content from our database. We will notify you should this occur. In the event a content partner becomes a repeat offender, then further escalation steps will be taken. This includes, but is not limited to, longer support request response times, longer processing times, or ultimately having the delivery feed disabled until the content partner can confidently say they can meet our registration guidelines.

Identification & Copyright Compliance Systems

Audible Magic’s Identification & Copyright Compliance content registration guidelines are subject to change but currently exclude the types of content described below.

  • Compilations:
    • Any compilation and/or playlist of songs from multiple rights holders, regardless of whether they’re under the same parent organization/distributor or sub-licensed in specific territories.
  • DJ Mixes:
    • Any official and/or unofficial DJ mixes containing two or more songs in a multi-track and/or single-track release.
      • Official DJ Mixes: Any ’official’ on label DJ mixes. This also applies to DJ mixes containing content from multiple rights holders under one parent label/distributor.
      • Unofficial DJ Mixes: Any ’unofficial’ compilations and/or DJ mixes containing content from multiple rights holders.
    • Long-form:
      • If music content delivered is longer than 30 minutes, it will be considered ‘long-form,’ flagged by our system, and not processed immediately upon ingestion. This content will be put in a queue for further review until later notice.
    • Public Domain:
      • Any content available for free use under public domain will not be processed as there is no rights holder associated with it.
    • Soundtrack:
      • Any movie and/or video game soundtrack content, whether it be original content for a movie or pre-existing content that was licensed for usage in the movie, will not be processed. Please note that does not apply to film scores, which are supported.
    • Sound Effects/Meditation/White Noise:
      • Any content that includes sound effects, meditation music, and/or white noise (i.e. rain drops, nature sounds etc).
    • Spoken Word/Comedy/Literary Work:
      • Any content that does not include music and is not a non-music part of a musical album or associated with a musical work. This includes audiobooks, podcasts, and sermons.
    • Generative AI:
      • Any generative-AI produced content that contains instances of previously commercially released and licensed sound recordings.

In addition to these exclusions, the ID Content Registration Guidelines also require that the Label/Distributor has exclusive rights to the material in the specified territory. Contributors are asked not to register:

  • Content that is licensed non-exclusively from a third party
  • Content that has been released under Creative Commons, or other free licenses
  • Parts of content that contain clips from other sources even if considered “fair use”

Other examples of content that do not meet these guidelines include royalty free music, video game play, karaoke recordings that contain the original master recording, and digital loops.

Music Delivery Systems

Audible Magic’s Music Delivery content registration guidelines are subject to change but currently exclude the types of content described below.

  • Spoken Word/Comedy/Literary Work:
    • Any content that does not include music and is not a non-music part of a musical album or associated with a musical work. This includes audiobooks, podcasts, and sermons.

In addition, it should be noted that Audible Magic provides music to DSPs and online platforms, our customers retain full editorial control. This means they can block or allow songs based on a number of criteria, such as whether the release is explicit or not.

If you are able to adhere to these guidelines and are interested in getting a feed to Audible Magic set up, please contact labeloperations@audiblemagic.com. If you've already registered content that does not adhere to our guidelines, please submit takedowns for the infringing content.
